Suse 9.2 with KDE 3.3
Novell released SUSE Linux 9.2 Prof with KDE 3.3 and GNOME 2.6. The best thing I found while downloading it from one of the mirror is that they provided ready to use CD and DVD Images. I use VMWare and so all I needed to run SUSE 9.2 was just create a new virtual machine put the 9.2 cd in and there it boots in less then 5 minutes!! (On the line of knoppix??) No installation hassles or no hardware compatibility problems (or you can test compatibility on actual hardware
Most visible difference from last time is that one can see “A NOVELL BUSINESS” logo everywhere around while booting. If I am not wrong this is the first major version release by Novell SUSE after the take over procedure is completed.
Another thing that I can feel is that GUI is very fast inside my virtual machine then it used to be on 9.1 with KDE 3.2 Also one major problem I had with SUSE 9.1 was making it talk to windows network share via samba and configuring network printers. In versions earlier to 9.1 the default configuration would work just fine but that was not the case with 9.1 I had to dig through all different configuration to make it work. Hopefully this version will do a better job. Will post more about it once I use it more.
